For the first time in two decades, Republicans will have complete control of the state’s political agenda in the Iowa Statehouse.

Following November’s election, the GOP has significant majorities in both the Iowa House and Senate. Representative Guy Vander Linden is optimistic Republicans will unify on many issues, including clarification and possible reduction of state taxes. He dismisses claims that Iowa will succumb to conservative policies implemented in states like Kansas and Louisiana in which those state governments found themselves nearly bankrupt.

Instead, he’s encouraged by the potential platforms this upcoming session in the Iowa House and Senate, and believes each will help Iowans.
