As Marion County voters turned out Monday evening for the first in the nation Iowa Caucuses, Pleasantville saw two caucuses filled as the Marion County Republicans caucused at the Pleasantville Baptist Church and the Marion County Democrats caucused at the Pleasantville High School. At the Marion County Republican Caucus, Congressmen Greg Pence, the older brother of Vice President Mike Pence was on hand to meet and speak with Republican voters, as they packed the church to show their support for the candidates and President Trump. Committee Chair for the Republican Central Committee, T. Waldmann Williams tells KNIA/KRLS News it was important for the Marion County Republicans to have a good turnout on caucus night because it gets into the grass roots. She says everyone gets to hear what candidates are talking about and where they all come from.

In the Democratic caucus held at the Pleasantville High School, 152 registered Democrats came out to take part in the caucus with Pete Buttigieg seeing the greatest support followed by Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden and Amy Klobuchar. Buttigieg received the most delegates at five, after a coin flip between Biden and Sanders supporters,  Bernie Sanders received three delegates, Joe Biden received two and Amy Klobuchar also received two. Candidates Elizabeth Warren and Tom Steyer were also represented but did not have enough support to be viable.
