In the early morning hours Today, the Knoxville Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a possibly suicidal individual firing shots in the 400 block N. Lincoln Street in Knoxville. Upon arrival officers witnessed a male at the reported address fire a shot. 

The area was secured, including blocking all traffic on N. Lincoln St. and an attempt was made to contact the individual by phone. Approximately 20 minutes later the individual told officers he would come outside, unarmed, and speak with them. The person did so and was contacted by officers.  

After being detained, officers did a protective sweep of the home and found that no one had been injured. A search warrant was later obtained and various firearms were recovered. 

The 36-year-old Knoxville resident was transported to the Knoxville Hospital & Clinic for an evaluation. The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending.
