A furious fourth-quarter rally pushed the Mexican all-star team past the American visitors, defeating Team Stars and Stripes and its eight Central College football players 28-24 in the Tazon de Estrellas Saturday afternoon.

Entering the final quarter trailing 24-0, Mexico rallied with 28 points.

Wide receiver Sam Markham snagged a game-high 15 catches for 164 yards. Kohle Helle also had two grabs for 11 yards. Offensive linemen Cal Smith and Josh Brunk helped the Americans generate 413 yards of total offense.

Outside linebacker Chris Neeld had seven total tackles including five solo stops. Inside linebackers Sam Norgaard and Tyler Olson had five and four tackles, respectively, and cornerback Tony Oros recovered a fumble and had three tackles.

Former Central College defensive coordinator Don De Waard once again served as the coach for the game. With the loss, his record as a coach in the game dropped to 3-3 and Mexico took the lead in the series 5-4.
