Sometimes reaching a goal takes longer than one might hope, but when that goal is finally accomplished it makes the feeling that much sweeter. That was the case for the PCM football team on Friday night when they clinched their first UNI-Dome appearance since 2006.

This is just the third time the Mustangs will be playing in Cedar Falls and they seized the opportunity after a 55-34 victory over Williamsburg in a class 2A quarterfinal matchup. Head Coach Greg Bonnett tells KRLS Sports the atmosphere at the dome is one of a kind.

“It’s a big environment and there is nothing like it. I can’t wait until we arrive there and see the looks on our guys face. You go down the tunnel and it makes you feel awesome. We are a big game type of team and I think we will thrive off of that.”

While reaching the dome is a big accomplishment, a state title is bigger and the first step to reaching that is Saturday when PCM (11-0) faces off with West Liberty (8-3). Listen to the game on KNIA with pregame at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m.
