Right after the partial government shutdown began, Marion County’s Women, Infants and Children food program reported having enough funds on hand to last for the short term. But as the impasse continues, those funds will become limited.

Julie Miller is the WIC coordinator for the Marion County Public Health Department; she says right now, there is enough federal funding to pay for WIC programs all across the country through the end of February.

But beyond that point, no information has been provided and Miller says they are not sure what will occur.

She says they are continuing to conduct business as usual serving their four-county area, and they are still encouraging people to continue using WIC’s services.
