33rd Annual LWML Salad Luncheon

The 33rd Annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Salad Luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 11th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville.  There will also be a craft and bake sale.  Cost for the luncheon is $5 for adults and $2 for kids 13 and under.  All proceeds will go towards Mission projects.

New Hope Church Ice Cream Social

New Hope Community Church in Pella is holding their ice cream social on Thursday, September 9th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.  They’ll be serving pork patties, brats, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, homemade pie, and ice cream.  Cost is a freewill donation towards the building fund.

Calvary CRC Coffee Break Program

The fall season of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church Tuesday morning coffee break programs will begin on Tuesday, September 14th at 9:45 and will dismiss at 11:15.  Bible study materials will be distributed, and they will begin the season studying the book of Jonah.  There are children’s activities for ages 3 to 6 and a nursery is provided for children age 2 and younger.  All programs are free.  For more information, call Cindy at 628-9037.

Grace Fellowship Pancake Breakfast

You’re invited to attend the Grace Fellowship Annual Labor Day Pancake Breakfast on Monday, September 6th from 7:00 to 10:00 am.  The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, juice, and coffee.  Freewill donations will be accepted for the Mission Fund.

Knoxville Apostolic Fish Fry

The Knoxville Apostolic Church is hosting a Fish Fry on Thursday, August 26th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall. The menu includes fried fish, potatoes, corn, pasta salad, beverage, and desserts. This event will support Youth Ministry efforts at Apostolic Church of Knoxville.

Celebrate Community Church Fun Day

Celebrate Community Church is holding a fun day on Saturday, September 11th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be inflatables, barrel train rides, a ferris wheel, puppet shows, snacks, and more. All events and activities are free for the whole family. In case of rain the event will be moved indoors.

Bible League Retreat in Pella

Hope Ministries’ Second Annual Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

Hope Ministries’ Second Annual Walk a Mile in Their Shoes is a walk-a-thon to help the homeless in central Iowa on Saturday, September 4th at Copper Creek Lake in Pleasant Hill. Registration begins at 9:00 am with the walk starting at 10:00 am. St. Anthony Catholic Parish in Knoxville has been invited to participate and partner with Hope Ministries as they raise awareness about homelessness in central Iowa. All proceeds will benefit the homeless.

Heritage Festival

The Heritage Festival will be held on October 3rd and the St. Anthony Parish committee is seeking donations to buy larger ticket items. They are looking for businesses or individuals that would be willing to donate items such as a weekend getaway to a Royals game or Worlds of Fun in Kansas City for a family of four. Raffle tickets are now on sale following weekend Masses. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

Sacred Heart Festival

The Sacred Heart Fall Festival is coming up on Sunday, September 19th in Chariton. Dinner will be served from 11:00 to 1:00 cost is $7 for adults and $4 for kids. A bake sale will be held starting at 10:00 am with an auction at 12:30. There will be a homemade quilt raffle as well as free games for kids.

Heartland Reformed Church Pioneer Club

The Pella Heartland Reformed Church invites you to join them on Wednesday nights for Pioneer Club. Pioneer Club is a Bible-based children’s program focusing on scripture memory and fun life-skills activities with an emphasis on outreach and discipleship. Pioneer Club is for kids ages 2 years to 6th grade from September 8th through March 30th from 6:45 to 7:30 pm. A freewill donations supper will also be held from 6:00 to 6:45. Attica UMC Barbecue

The Attica United Methodist Church is having a homemade ice cream and barbecue on Sunday, August 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. They will be serving grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, pies, bars, cookies, and homemade ice cream. This will be held in the park, and in case of rain, will be held in the church basement. Cost is a freewill donation.

Pella 1st Baptist Church Fall Supper

The Pella First Baptist Church is hosting a fall soup supper on Thursday, September 30th from 4:30 to 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall. There will be soups, sandwiches, and desserts. Freewill donations will be used for mission projects.

St. Anthony Back-to-School Supply Drive

Newton Christian Reformed Celebrating 75th Anniversary

The Newton Christian Reformed Church is celebrating their 75th Anniversary on Sunday, August 8th with several former pastors returning to participate in the 9:30 am and 6:00 pm services.  Fellowship and refreshment time will be held after both services as well as a noon lunch.  A unique Book of Remembrances will be available as well.  The church is located at 511 South 5th Avenue East in Newton and everyone is welcome to attend.
