New legislation making it illegal for registered sex offenders to loiter around schools, playgrounds and other areas with children is more clear and enforceable than the old law. Thats according to Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada. He says the old law made it illegal for sex offenders to live within 2,000 feet of areas with children, but didnt address loitering. Pella Police Chief Michael Marcinkowski says his officers will be enforcing the law to protect all of the citizens in the community.
