One of Senator Tom Harkin’s aides, Amy Campos, held a “Listening Post on Health Reform" Friday morning at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. Hospital and county public health officials and residents expressed issues and concerns, including a shortage of health care professionals nationally, compensation issues and health reform legislation. Another issue discussed was the affordability of healthcare, and Knoxville Hospital & Clinics started a “Sensitive Times Economic Program”, or STEP, earlier this year. The program gives a discount to qualifying residents and families.
