A $200,000 grant was awarded to the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District by Iowa's Watershed Improvement Review Board. Karen Ackley, Agriculture and Horticulture Assistant from the Marion County ISU Extension Office, says the 3-year grant will be used to help improve water quality in the Competine Creek watershed. She says the Competine Creek Watershed Project identifies and starts solutions that will reduce runoff into area creeks, lakes, and rivers.
