The Pella City Council approved the first reading of an
ordinance that would ban popular mixed martial arts or
extreme fighting events. Pella assistant City
Administrator Mike Marcinkowski tells KNIA/KRLS the
liabilities associated with the growing sport were a major
factor in the decision. A second reading of an ordinance
amending solid waste fees was also passed, which would
increase rates depending on the size of the receptacles in
accordance with increases imposed by the landfill.
