After receiving a new a shine and coat of paint from
Weiler Industries last month, the cannon on Knoxvilles
square also received a memorial plaque this week. Thats
according to Knoxville resident and American Legion member
Conrad Nelson. The plaque says the U.S. Army shipped the
cannon to Knoxville to replace a Civil War cannon which
was retired in 1902. A dedication ceremony is expected at
a later date.
