Not many athletes get the chance to play in the annual Shrine Bowl All Star football game. Pella Christians Eli Groenendyk not only got that chance, but he caught a touchdown pass on the games opening offensive possession and was voted the Offensive MVP of the game. Groenendyk says he really enjoyed the entire week leading up to the game, but never expected to have a touchdown just a couple of minutes into the game: He says it took a few days to get back in football mode and adjust to playing with and against the best players in Iowa: Groenendyk just graduated from Pella Christian and says he plans to attend Northwestern College in Orange City on a basketball scholarship in the FalL. You can hear the entire interview with Groenendyk later tonight on the Marion County PM Sports Page show on KNIA/KRLS starting around 6:20pm.
