One key question coming into the football season for Pella was how good would the defense be after graduating the entire defensive line from last season..after Friday’s season opener that question may be answered. Pella held Washington to just 8 points and aside from that scoring drive the Washington offense was shut down all night. Pella Coach Jay Mckinstrey says although there are things that need some work he was very pleased with what he saw from his defense: One player who really stepped up in his first game as a defensive back was Mark Frommelt who had 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery: Mckinstrey says traditionally the most improvements come between week one and week two of the season and he says although it was a big win to start the season, they will need to get better as they’ll face a tough, physical test Friday night when they host Oskaloosa.
