Pella and Knoxville girls and boys got their Cross Country seasons underway at the Southeast Polk Invitational yesterday. The Pella boys finished 2ndand Knoxville was 5th, while the Pella girls were 4th followed by the Knoxville girls in 5th. On the boys side for Pella Zach Wittenberg won the race and Nathan Buchheit finished 3rd. Knoxville’s boys were led by Jamie VanderVeer who finished 9th. Heidi Schule led the Lady Dutch finishing 19th while Jessica Fresh led Knoxville who finished 18th. Pella Coach Doug Cutler said he was pleased with the season opener for both squads and it was a great tune up for the Pella Invitational coming up Saturday.
