Hundreds of pelicans have been gliding into Lake Red Rock recently, and Marion County residents are encouraged to take in the scenery and wildlife around Iowa’s largest lake. Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz tells KNIA/KRLS News that snowy and great egrets are also making an appearance as they return during autumn migration, while dormant gray-horned owls surface again. She says the cooler temperatures make it inviting for both wildlife and area residents.
