Missed opportunities and penalties at the worst possible times were the big keys in Knoxville’s 21-to-18 setback to Chariton last night in high school football. Three times the Panthers were inside the Chargers’ 40 yard line but because of penalties and missed opportunities at sustaining the drive the Panthers came up empty-handed. Defensive Coordinator Justin Mikels said it was disappointing to see so many missed chance. Knoxville got down 14/nothing but came back to make it 14/12 at the half on a Tyler Worrall ten yard pass from Adam Theil then Blake McWilliams caught a 28 yard touchdown throw from Theil to get Knoxville within two points. The final Panther tally came when Worrall scored his second touchdown on a nine yard run in the third quarter. Worrall led the Panthers with 79 yards on ten carries…Adam Theil threw for 96 yards but three interceptions. Knoxville is now two-and-one on the season and oh-and-one in district play.
