Pella Christian volleyball had a decent day at the Iowa City West Invitational Saturday. The Eagles finished two-and-one in pool play with sweeps over North Cedar and Davenport Central before falling to Mount Vernon two games to none. In the quarterfinals, the Eagles were defeated two/one by cross town rival Pella and were unable to make the championship round. Bekah Posthuma had 52 assists on the day, Courtney Kroeze had 16 kills and Jenna Horstman had three blocks to go along with eight ace serves. Meanwhile Pella High went three-and-two in Iowa City. The Lady Dutch beat Benton, Dyersville-Beckman and Pella Christian while falling to Dubuque Wahlert and Mount Vernon in the finals. Hali Steenhoek led Pella on the day with 35 kills. Pella Christian returns to Little Hawkeye Conference play tomorrow for their only match of the week when the Eagles travel to South Tama while Pella hosts Newton on Tuesday.
