A chief of the Yankton Sioux Nation in South Dakota will be at the Horn’s Ferry Bridge below Lake Red Rock Tuesday, presenting a “Blessing of the Birds” cultural event at 7 p.m. That’s according to Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz. She says chief Golden Eagle will be involved in the event, which celebrates the fall bird migration and will feature a release of three bald eagles. She says residents should be prepared for cool weather conditions, and in case of inclement weather, the event will move to the North Tailwater Shelter area.
