The deadline to file papers for Knoxville and Pella’s city council positions is by 5 p.m. today, and so far six people have filed in Knoxville. Knoxville City Clerk Jody Meyer tells KNIA/KRLS News that as of Wednesday, current councilmembers Dave Roozeboom and Elsie Kemp have filed papers for the 4-year council seats, while councilmember Lori Beary, April Verwers, and Carolyn Formanek have filed for one of the two-year seats. Don Zoutte has also filed paperwork for the mayor position.

Both the mayoral seat and the two city council positions have two year terms, while the other two council seats are four year terms. Residents can pick up candidacy paperwork at City Hall. Paperwork for county-wide elective offices are due by the end of the business day Thursday to each city hall.
