September 30 is the deadline for Marion County farmers to apply for the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program for their fall 2009 seeded crops. Farm Service Agency Officials tell KNIA/KRLS News the program provides assistance for crop losses due to eligible natural conditions when ‘catastrophic’ level crop insurance isn’t available in the county. The application applies to coverage for fall seeded crops, not covered by crop insurance, along with perennial crops, but there are some varieties which do not qualify. More information is available at the area FSA office in Knoxville.
