The Knoxville portion of the Indianola Girls Swim program has had a good start to the season. It is also showing up in the season’s first power ratings released by the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union. Chelsea Vander Linden and Christina Ambergy are a part of the 200 medley relay that is rated 33rd in the state. Ambergy is also on the 200 free relay team that is rated 27th, and Olivia Crawford is on the 400 free relay event and her and her teammates are rated 30th. Indianola will have its toughest test of the season as the Indians travel to powerhouse Ankeny tomorrow. Coach Kurt Lickiss says Indianola is the smallest school in the C-I-M-L and it makes for a tough road each time out. He adds without a diving portion of the team Indianola loses about 20 points to teams like West Des Moines Valley, Ankeny, and many of the other metro teams. He says when that happens, they go from trying to win the team title to seeing how many of the girls can lower their times and get on the medal stand.
