The harvest season is an extremely busy time in Marion County, and area farmers need to think safety when working on equipment or in fields. Marion County ISU Extension Education Director Dale Miller says the pre-harvest bustle increases the chance for accidents to happen. He says farmers should shut down machines before working or cleaning them, and use extra caution around farm belts, chain-drives and other harvesting equipment. Miller also warns farmers to never go down into a grain bin unless there’s another person with them.
