After more than four years of raising funds for the construction of two entrance signs into the city, the Knoxville Sign Committee formally turned over maintenance of those signs to the city this week. The committee also turned over more than $7,000 in funds for maintenance of the signs. The city council thanked the committee members for their years of work. City Manager Dick Schrad says the Chamber of Commerce is also working to raise funds for eventual welcome signs on the east and west sides of the city.
