As the regular season for high school football wraps up this Friday night there are still several area teams alive for post season berths and some very exciting scenarios heading into the final week. In Class 3A District 6 Pella is tied with Chariton for the fourth and final playoff spot at 3-3 and Norwalk is sixth at 2-4 which creates several interesting scenarios. Pella plays at Norwalk while Chariton hosts district champion Centerville. A Pella win secures the Dutch a post season berth as the 4th seed, however a loss by both Pella and Chariton would force a 3 way tie with Norwalk and the fourth place finisher would be decided on the points system which Pella currently holds the advantage in. If both Pella and Chariton win then they would tie and Pella would earn the playoff spot due to their win over Chariton earlier in the season. In Class 2A District 7 PCM still has a shot at the post season but they must beat Albia by 13 or more points and hope CMB beats North Polk by at least 13 which would force a three way tie for that final playoff position and it would also be decided by the point system giving PCM a chance. In Class 1A District 6 Pella Christian is part of a three way tie for the top spot with Mount Ayr and Des Moines Christian. The Eagles are already in the post season but to win the district they need to beat Wayne by at least 13 points and hope Des Moines Christian beats Pleasantville and Mount Ayr beats Central Decatur. That would keep the three teams tied with the district champion decided by the points system where the Eagles hold the advantage. A Pella Christian win and Mount Ayr loss would also give the Eagles the district championship. In Eight player District 5 Tri County and Harmony have secured playoff spots, however there are three teams battling for the final two playoff positions including Melcher Dallas, Moravia and Twin Cedars. Melcher Dallas plays at Twin Cedars Friday and if the Saints win they are in, however if Twin Cedars wins that will creat a three way tie and the points system will determine the final two qualifiers
