Pella Christian hosts Wayne tonight to close the regular season. The Eagles are in the playoffs win or lose but they’re not satisfied with just being in the post season, they want to win the district for the second consecutive season and if things go their way tonight they can accomplish that feat. On paper Pella Christian should win big over the winless Falcons but coach Rich Kacmarynski says they’re more worried about playing Pella Christian football than the fact that Wayne is winless:

“One of our strategies since I’ve been at Pella Christian is to focus on playing our best football and not worry so much about the opponent so tonight we’re gonna go out and play Pella Christian football and not worry so much about Wayne”

Kacmarynski says Wayne may be winless, but they play physical football and won’t back down:

“One of the things they do well is they strike hard and they’re very physical. One of the problems they’ve had all year is hanging on to the football, they’ve hurt themselves a lot with turnovers and mistakes, so I told our guys if they expect them to lay down and roll over for us that won’t happen. We’re hoping we can pressure them into making some of the same mistakes they’ve made all year and then take advantage of those mistakes”

Since Mount Ayr beat Central Decatur last night, Coach Kac says the Eagles must win by 10 or more points and hope Des Moines Christian beats Pleasantville which would force a three way tie and the Eagles would win the title based on the points system. If Pleasantville beats Des Moines Christian, then the best the Eagles can finish is second and Mount Ayr would be the champion.
