Pella won its class 3A volleyball regional match over Knoxville last night in three games 27/25, 25/16, and 25/13. Pella was down game point to Knoxville in the first game 25/24, but two big plays by Brooke Fessler and Courtney Kelderman put Pella over the top. Coach Bob Fessler said the experience in big game situations proved valuable last night. Meanwhile Knoxville Coach Eric Fee said his team played well at the outset, but it came down to Pella just having too much to defend. Pella’ was again very balanced across the board as Hali Steenhoek led Pella with 11 kills and 3 blocks, Fessler had 28 assists, 8 kills and 3 blocks, Jordyn Vandelune had 2 blocks, Kenzie VanderMolen had 12 digs and both VanderMolen and Kelsi Rempe had 4 ace serves each. Pella advances to 37-5 on the season which breaks the school recorsd for most wins in a season set in 2006 and will host Carlisle Thursday night in the quarterfinals who knocked off Chariton in three games last night. You can hear that match live on 92.1 FM KRLS Thursday night starting at 6:45pm. Knoxville finishes the season at 16-23.
