The Knoxville School Board is looking into possibly borrowing funds against sales tax revenues to get district repair projects done at a lower interest rate. Superintendent Randy Flack says the revenues, which can only be used for physical plant projects or property tax relief, could go towards roof repairs, boiler replacements, and other projects. Further Board discussion is expected on what physical plant projects would be considered.

In other news, the Board also heard from a teacher requesting approval for class-related field trips. The Board says that although they recognize the value of field trips and many have been approved this school year, both Board direction and the 10% across-the-board cut are forcing districts to find ways to be cost effective and reduce expense.
