The newly-established Knoxville Visioning Committee discussed ways to make Knoxville more visually appealing as part of a grant application process Monday. Mayor Harv Sprafka appointed 21-members to the group, which includes business owners, people from the Knoxville School District, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Knoxville Federated Garden Club, and Downtown Historic Preservation Commission, among other interested residents. City Manager Dick Schrad says if approved the grant application from the ISU Extension, Iowa Department of Transportation and Trees Forever, would help provide specialists to work with the committee on developing a plan to increase the city’s attractiveness and make it more accessible. Schrad says they hope to find out if the city gets the grant in December.
