Carlisle put up a good fight but 4th ranked Pella was too strong down the stretch winning 3-1 in the Class 3A volleyball Regional semifinal last night. Pella won game one 25-17, however Carlisle took the second set 25-20 to tie the match 1-1. Carlisle looked to be heading toward a game three win leading 19-15, however Pella scored 10 of the last 11 points to win 25-20 then went on to win game four 25-17. Coach Bob Fessler says he never doubted the girls and was very proud of their effort. Hali Steenhoek led another balanced Pella attack with 27 kills and 4 blocks, Kelsi Rempe added 14 kills. Brooke Fessler dished out 49 assists to go along with 10 digs, 3 blocks and 3 ace serves, Jordyn Vandelune added 10 kills, 3 blocks and 12 digs, Lindsay Bentzinger had 27 digs and Courtney Kelderman added 13 digs. 4th ranked Pella improved to 38-5 on the season and advances to their fourth straight Regional final Tuesday at SE Polk where they will face 9th ranked Bondurant Farrar after they beat ADM in five games last night.
