The new Applebee’s restaurant in Pella remains on pace to open in a week and a half. That’s according to manager Justin Trenkamp, who tells KNIA/KRLS News he’s been excited with the progress made in the last few weeks and that training of the staff and employees beginning this weekend is the next major milestone.
“Getting ready this weekend we start our orientation for all of our employees that we’ve hired,” said Trenkamp. “And the beginning of next week is our first day of training for our six-day training program.”

Tonight workers will begin putting up the “artifacts” on the walls that make every Applebee’s in the country unique. Trenkamp says they’ve acquired a lot of great items to add to the restaurant.
“We’ve got a great company that does that. They’ve been in contact with the high schools, Pella Corporation, Vermeer Manufacturing, and they’ve been able to get some really good stuff that will make us very community-oriented on our walls,” says Trenkamp. ”So it’s something for us to all be proud of.”
The Applebee’s restaurant is located on Washington Street near Walmart in Pella and will open for business on Monday, November 16th.
