Rehearsals are well under way for the latest production from Pella’s Union Street Players; Little House Christmas at Plum Creek. The play is based on the Little House on the Prairie book by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and the show’s producer, Pat Moriarity (MORE-ee-AIR-tee) says the cast recently began working on rehearsing without reading directly from their scripts.

“When you do a play, you have to learn to memorize your lines, so last week was the first week they were trying to perform without their scripts in front of them. That’s called going ‘off-book’,” says Moriarity. “Rehearsals are going well. We’ve got some really great actors and actresses and its fun to watch them interact and to develop their character as to what life would have been like back in 1876 rural Minnesota.”

Performances are scheduled for December 3rd, 4th, and 5th at 7:00 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Joan Kuyper Farver Auditorium at the Pella Community Center. Tickets are now available at the Pella Community Center Community Services office on Union Street during regular business hours. All main floor seats are reserved. You can call 628-4571 for information on tickets and show times.
