Central College has announced the school’s 21st president. Dr. Mark Putnam will take office in July of 2010, following the retirement of current president, Dr. David Roe. The search for a new president started after Roe’s retirement announcement in February of last year.

Putnam is a senior vice president for executive affairs at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he has held a several leadership roles over the past ten years. Prior to that, he held key positions at Connecticut College and at Alliance Theological Seminary. Putnam earned his master’s degree and doctorate from Columbia University (N.Y.), and his bachelor’s from Nyack College (N.Y). Dr. Roe has served as Central College’s president since 1998.
