This football season for Pella is one that won’t be forgotten, in fact it was a history making season. Pella earned their highest placing in school history with a runner-up finish falling to Harlan in the Class 3A championship game, but what made it even more special is the fact they did it as a 4th seed entering the post season. Pella coach Jay Mckinstrey says there are lots of memories that will stick with him for a lifetime in regards to this team and this season but he says he was most proud of how they didn’t give up when times got tough following two straight losses when they were 3-3 and 1-3 in the district and many people counted them out. He says he credits a lot of that to this years senior class and the leadership they showed and he says that’s the toughest part of the season ending is teh fact those seniors won’t be back again. Pella loses 24 total seniors from this years team including skill positions such as quarterback, running back, two receivers, and several lineman on both sides of the ball as well as some key defensive players. He says they definitely have holes to fill next season, but notes they have a lot of good prospects to step in and fill those roles.
