West Elementary in Knoxville has been nominated to apply for a nationally-recognized student achievement award. West principal John Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS News that the nomination for the Blue Ribbon award came from West’s 5th graders scoring in the top 10% state-wide in reading and math on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, or ITBS, last year. The application for the Blue Ribbon honor is due in March, and Keitges says it’s a district-wide effort by students, teachers and staff to achieve high scores.
