After a 1-1 start to the season the Pella Christian girls return to action tomorrow night when they head to South Tama to open Little Hawkeye Conference play. The Eagles have been off since their loss at PCM last Monday. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says their lack of practice time showed in their first two games and it was nice to have a full week of practice time to work on things and sharpen up before opening conference play. He says he expects South Tama to be much improved this season and to present a challenge for them tomorrow night. He says even though they have struggles the last couple seasons, this year they have alot of size in the post and they are really quick and talented at the guard position also. He says the Eagles have worked alot on their pressure defense the past week to try and slow them down and frustrate the Trojans. He says it’s tough to pick a definite favorite in the LHC this early, but he expects it will be very balanced again and a tough challenge every night. The Eagles open LHC play at South Tama tomorrow night with a girl/boy doubleheader starting with the girls game a 6:15pm followed by the boys. You can hear both games live with Jamie Brockman and Wynne Veenstra on 92.1 FM KRLS starting with the pre game at 6pm tomorrow night. Both games will also be streamed live on kniakrls.com
