Knoxville dusted off the doldrums of a ten day layoff in the second half to take care of Grinnell last night in girls basketball 45-to-35. The Panthers found themselves down 20/18 at the half but put together a nine/two run midway through the third to take a lead they would never give back. Coach Jim Utimarkt said once again hustle plays and running the full court press turned the game around. Utimarkt gave credit to Bethany Just for getting things started in the third quarter when she made a diving save for a loose ball that sparked the nine/two run. Lacy Stevenson led Knoxville with 17 points…Sam Abens scored 16 and that means she is now just the second girls basketball player in the five player era at Knoxville to score 1,000 points in her career. Knoxville is 3-0 and starts off 1-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
