A scorching first half by NAIA foe Mount Mercy was enough to bury the Central College women for good, as the shorthanded Dutch fell 86-49 to the Mustangs on Saturday. The Central women were down 56-29 at halftime, as Mount Mercy converted an incredible 72.4 percent of their attempts from the floor. A depleted Central roster was led by 11 points from Pella native Kelsey Schurring, but the Dutch shot just 25 percent from the floor in the loss with the absence of three of the team’s top four scorers. The Central women will take a break for final exams this week before closing their pre-Christmas schedule with a home game against Northwestern College.
