The Pella Christian girls got back on the winning track in a big way last night at home dominating Newton 57-26. Pella Christian held just a 12-9 lead after one quarter but took control with a 26-6 run in the second quarter to take a 28-15 lead into halftime. The Eagles surge continued in the third quarter as they held Newton scoreless the first six minutes of the quarter and outscored the Cardinals 15-5 and crusied to the big win. Pella Christian coach Kevin Van Maanen said he was happy with their effort all around but especially with the improvement they showed on defense:

Nine players scored in all for Pella Christian led by Jasmin Schelhaas with 10, Jackie Veenstra added nine and Shelby Weaver and Bekah Posthuma each added eight as the Eagles improved to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Eagles now get two full days of practice before hosting cross town rival Pella Friday night.
