Despite low numbers and injuries, the Pella Christian boys basketball team enters the holiday break in good position. The Eagles are coming off two consecutive games in which they struggled with turnovers and cold shooting but are 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference tied with Grinnell for second place. Coming into the season the Eagles knew they were replacing all five starters from last years team and they knew there would be ups and downs. After seven games, Coach Larry Hessing says there’s still work to be done but he’s proud of what they’ve been able to accomplish. Coach Hessing says they’re really looking forward to the holiday break because it finally gives them several days to practice and work on improving the things they’ve been doing and maybe even add in a few new things especially defensively.
