At 5:01 pm tonight the Knoxville Rural Fire Department, the Knoxville Fire Department, and the Marion County Sheriff’s office responded to a report of a vehicle rollover in the 1500 block of Newbold south of Knoxville. Initial reports were that multiple individuals were trapped in the vehicle, and that it was on fire. First responders fought temperatures that approached zero as they worked to extract three individuals with mechanical means from the vehicle. One individual managed to escape from the vehicle by crawling out. Multiple individuals were transported by ambulance to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics for treatment.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation showed Judith A. Carter, of Kansas City MO. was operating a 1996 Dodge Van, eastbound on Newbold Dr. While driving down hill the vehicle slid out of control on a snow/ice packed section of road. The vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled onto its side, trapping three of the four occupants. The condition of the individuals and remaining names have not been released.
