The Pleasantville boys basketball team was 3 seconds from an unlikely comeback and forcing overtime, but Central Decatur point guard Devin Brines had another idea, sinking a leaning 12 footer as time expired to clinch a 48-46 win over the Trojans Tuesday night. The Trojans trailed 23-14 at half, and pulled together a big 4th quarter to tie the game with 12 seconds left on 2 Ryan Marsh free throws before coming just 2 points short. Bobby Beier led the Trojans in scoring with 15 points followed by Jacob Schletzbaum with 11.
The Trojan girls held a 10 point lead at half before a big third quarter put Central Decatur up for good to pull out a 46-39 victory Tuesday night. Pleasantville had their top two scorers foul out in the the 4th quarter in Konner Gordon and Liz Hoyt, and the Cardinals milked the clock in the final minutes to claim the victory. Pleasantville is now 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the Pride of Iowa Conference, while Central Decatur improves to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
