The Pella Christian boys made 31 of 77 shots in a fast-paced win Tuesday night in Pella, as they routed Centerville 68-48 in non-conference play. Eagles’ Head Coach Larry Hessing said the team made several improvements following last week’s loss to Norwalk.

”I thought the first half especially we played very good defense,” said Hessing. “The second half was a little more wide-open game, but I thought we did a good job on the boards. Offensively, we got a lot of shots off, but I thought we did some good things with getting the ball inside and I thought our post [players] really finished strong at the basket.”

Post player Chase Carlson led Pella Christian in scoring, with 16 points, while teammates Alex Branderhorst and Kyle Nikkel added 14 and 12 points, respectively. Nikkel finished the night with a double-double, as he also pulled down 11 rebounds. With the win, Pella Christian is now 8-2 overall, and returns to Little Hawkeye Conference play on Friday with a home game against South Tama.
