The Pella boys knew they would be in for a fight with Norwalk last night, as the top two teams in the LHC, both undefeated, went head to head in Pella. After a back and forth battle all game long it came down to the final seconds and Norwalk escaped with a 51-48 win [simage=1338,200,y,right].
Pella led 10-8 after one quarter but the Warriors got a late second quarter surge to gain a 25-21 halftime lead. The teams continued to battle and were tied 35-35 after three quarters. Both teams swapped leads in the fourth quarter and Pella held a 48-47 lead late in the game but couldn’t hang on as Norwalk hit some late free throws to earn the win. Pella coach Mark Core gave alot of credit to Norwalk but also credited his guys never give up effort. Nathan Buchheit led Pella with 15 points, Blaine Forsythe added nine while Matt Dowie and Josh Pringle each added eight. Norwalk improved to 8-0 and 6-0 in the LHC while Pella fell to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the LHC. They start round two in the LHC Friday when they host Newton.
