The Knoxville girls have spent the last ten days just practicing, and it showed in the first half and the Panthers led Grinnell by two at the end of a very sluggish first 16 minutes of basketball. However the second half a different story as Knoxville outscored the Tigers 31-11 in the second half to win 45-25. Shots were not falling for the Panthers either and Sam Abens had no points and three fouls. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said he took the approach at halftime to build up their confidence and praise them for their defense. Abens came out and scored 11 second half points…while sister Alex scored a game high 16 points. Knoxville stays perfect at 11-0 on the season and 7-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
