Cold shooting doomed the Pella Christian girls basketball team in a 56-47 loss to South Tama last night. The Eagles built a modest three-point lead in the middle of the first quarter…but went nearly 7 minutes of game action without a field goal…falling behind by as many as nine in the second quarter. When Christina Nolte hit a three pointer at the end of the third quarter…and another one to start the fourth quarter…the Eagles had pulled even. But South Tama continued charging…while Pella Christian mostly misfired…and Coach Kevin Van Maanen’s club could never get over the hump. South Tama hit 13 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter as they salted away the nine-point win. Pella Christian got 10 points each from Bekah Postuma and Christina Nolte… and 10 rebounds from Courtney Van Kooten. They’re now six-and-six overall…and five-and-three in the L-H-C. They’ll host A-D-M in a jayvee-varsity doubleheader this afternoon at two o’clock.
