The Pella Christian girls and boys are off tonight as they continue to celebrate homecoming week and prepare to host Knoxville on Friday night. Both coaches agree that with all the hoopla of homecoming week its important that when its time to focus on basketball during practice and game time that the players give their full attention. The Eagle girls are coming off a big win over ADM Saturday afternoon where they showed alot of improvements after losing to South Tama the night before. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says the girls will have to be ready for all the challenges Knoxville presents on Friday night. Knoxville won the first game between the two back on December 14th 61-45 and drained ten three pointers in the game. Van Maanen says their defense has to be ready to defend against the three pointer at all times but also must play tough inside to slow down the Panthers. The Pella Christian boys are on a roll since the holiday break with their latest win being a blowout Friday against South Tama . Coach Larry Hessing says they weren’t playing real well heading into the holiday break, but since have been very focused and much improved: Pella Christian won the first game 69-25 but Hessing says its very important that they dont overlook Knoxville based on that first game. He says the Panthers are much improved since then and as of late are starting to get things together. You can hear Friday night’s homecoming games between Pella Christian and Knoxvile on both KNIA/KRLS.
