The primary purpose of road crews during winter storms is to make sure that emergency and first responder crews are able to travel safely to all areas across the county. No one enjoys having extra snow pushed into their driveways and sidewalks. However, Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator, Jeff Anderson it is important to realize that road crews have a lot of ground to cover and it would be impossible in terms of both time management and finances to plow each driveway in the county. In addition, after crews are working long hours making routes safe and passable for all motorists, they too have to clean off their own driveways and sidewalks at the end of the day.
