In a related story to information earlier reported this week by KNIA/KRLS News, information on the sources of financial contributions for the re-election campaigns of our area state lawmakers was recently filed with the State of Iowa. State Senator Paul McKinley of Chariton reported nearly $61,000 in campaign contributions over the most recent reporting period, with a $2,500 donation from West Des Moines Lawyer James Sinclair as the largest single contribution. McKinley represents District 36 in the Iowa Senate and also received a pair of $2,000 donations from the Iowa Dental and Iowa Society of Anesthesiologists Political Action Committees.

$1,500 of the $1,800 in campaign contributions reported by State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven of Pella came in the form of three $500 contributions from private citizens. Van Engelenhoven represents District 71 in the Iowa House. The re-election campaign for District 72 State Representative Richard Arnold of Russell reported $1,250 in contributions, including a $500 donation from the Union Pacific Fund for Effective Government.
