The Pella Christian girls had a dominating performace at Eddyville Blakesburg Saturday night as they beat the Rockets 63-15 while the boys turned in another solid performance at home beating ADM 64-54. The Eagle girls took control early leading 16-3 after one quarter, 36-5 at halftime and 57-9 after three quarters on their way to the win. Christina Nolte led the way with 17 points, Jasmin Schelhaas scored 12, Shelby Weaver added 11 and Courtney Van Kooten also scored in double figures with 10. Coach Kevin Van Maanen said their defense continues to be very strong but the offense is finally starting to turn around and the girls are gaining confidence which is exactly what they need as they prepare to play at Pella Tuesday night. The Eagles connected on eight three pointers including four from Nolte as they improved to 10-7 on the season.

The boys had another solid all around performance as they beat ADM Saturday afternoon 64-54. The Eagles trailed 7-1 early on but then went on a 10-2 run to end the first quarter leading 11-9 and gradually built their lead each quarter to get the win. The Eagles had four players score in double figures and saw some of their strongest post play of the season as Kyle Nikkel and Chase Carlson each recorded double doubles. Nikkel had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Carlson scored 12 while grabbing 11 rebounds. Alex Branderhorst also scored 15 points and Jon Holwerda added 10 as the Eagles improved to 13-3 on the season. Coach Larry Hessing said he was very pleased with their play and their intensity on both ends of the floor. Pella Christian is in action next at Pella Tuesday night where they hope to gain some revenge after Pella dominated them just before Christmas.
